The History of Mod
– Mod style first emerged in the late 1950s and was popularized throughout the mid 60s. Short for “modernist” style, the Mod movement can be traced back to the suburban areas of Britain. Due to a rebounding economy after World War II, youths were able to spend their income on fashions instead of contributing to the household income. The result was fashions that were radical at the time, and quite expressive. The beatnik style and Teddy Boys are noted as influences for the style. Most notably; miniskirts, bold colors and prints are all hallmarks of the style with models like Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy who personified the mod look. (from FASHION GONE ROGUE)

- Twiggy
Lesley Lawson was well known by the nickname Twiggy. She has her own style: big eyes, long eyelashes, and short hair. She is perhaps the most famous mod icon in the world.

His designs really well represent Mods. His works are Black&White or really bright striped and circle shaped. He is the most creative and innovative designer during the 1960s.
- Mary Quant
She was an Icon between Mods during 1960s in London.She encouraged young people to wear miniskirt and hot pants.
- Paco Rabanne
His dresses made Mod girls modern. After him, Mod girls started to wear metallic skirt.
- Pierre Cardin
Pierre Cardin is an Italian-born French designer who is best known for his haute couture geometric designs. Cardin’s Space Age or Cosmocorps collection of 1964 was minimal dressing for both men and women.

This collection in 1965 was inspired by the painting of Mondrian.This collection is called ‘The Mondrian collection’. The simple and geometric shape and lines are well presented Mods.
